Neurodiversity

Cassie works from a Neurodiversity affirming perspective in her sessions.  This means that all brain types, ways of seeing and being in the world and ways of communicating are encouraged and validated in therapy.  Cassie particularly enjoys working with late diagnosed adults who are Autistic, ADHDers or AuDHDers.

Cassie focuses on supporting clients to develop a positive Neurodivergent identity.  This approach acknowledges the vast challenges faced by Neurodivergent clients when they are navigating a Neurotypical world.  The pressure of this can lead to minority stress, masking, overwhelm and burnout, as well as depression, anxiety and trauma symptoms.

On the flip side, Neurodivergent clients CAN and DO thrive when they can safely explore their neurotype, access the supports and accommodations they require, and engage with the world in an aligned way.

Neurodiversity affirming therapy can help clients develop a greater compassion, understanding and acceptance of their brains.  Cassie encourages clients to support their sensory and movement needs during therapy sessions (BYO fidgets or borrow some at the clinic!). Invite Cassie along for a deep-dive into your special interest or current hyperfocus in your sessions.

***As part of working from a Neurodiversity affirming perspective, Cassie has an ongoing commitment to hearing and learning from Neurodivergent voices and experiences.  She engages in regular professional development and supervision with neurodivergent supervisors.
